Presentation of the film in the Museum of deportation (Luxembourg-Hollerich)

From the 5th to the 10th of May 2017, a delegation from the region of Tambov visited Luxemburg, with the aim of celebrating the Commemoration of the end of WWII, together with the representatives of the Amicale des Anciens de Tambow. In this context, the delegation met at the Mémorial de la Déportation in Hollerich and was invited to participate in the presentation of the documentary ‘’Die Normalität des Anormalen – Darstellungen aus dem Kriegsgefangenenlager N°188 bei Tambow’’, organized by the Amicale, the Centre de la Mémoire, and four history students from the university of Luxembourg. Before presenting the documentary, the history students guided their invitees through the museum’s exhibition. The public’s reaction to their short documentary, elaborated in the context of a seminar at the university of Luxembourg, had been very positive and even the Russian visitors congratulated the students for their good work. In this spirit, Ivanov, assistant leader of the administration of the territory, explained in a letter addressed to the student team:

Хотелось бы высказать признательность студентам университета за изучение истории Второй мировой войны и роли Советского Союза в победе над фашизмом, бережное отношение к документальному материалу. (English translation: We appreciate the effort of the students of the University who researched the history of WWII and the role of the Soviet Union against fascism together with us. We are also thankful for their careful and thoughtful handling with the material of the documentary).

At this point, our team wants to thank Daniel Bousser, responsible of the Mémorial de la Déportation, for his inclusion of our documentary film in the permanent exhibition at the museum.
